Job Title: Lower School Psychologist

Full or Part Time: Full Time

Most of the work of Sacred Heart’s Lower School Psychologist is consultative, focusing on both learning and social-emotional issues. Therefore, this position is ideal for someone who has expertise and interest in both learning and social-emotional development and enjoys collaborating with multiple constituents of a school community.


Ph.D. or Psy.D. in psychology

Minimum of 3-5 years experience with this age group

Available 32 hours to Full-time: Some flexibility in schedule is possible


Plan and lead support service meetings to discuss issues concerning students and additional supports needed (i.e. classroom strategies, tutoring, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, psychotherapy, and evaluations)

Meet monthly with each homeroom teacher and the Head of Lower School to discuss each student in that section and strategies to best support students

Support students and their parents through short-term individual counseling and parent guidance

Lead Banana Splits groups for children who are living in divorced, separated, and single-parent homes

Teach classroom lessons focused on health and wellness as well as building social skills and self-esteem

Assist the Admissions Department in determining whether applicants will be successful in Sacred Heart’s program

Summarize neuropsychological reports for parents and teachers and determine the supports that can be implemented inside and outside of school

Participate in Parent-Teacher Conferences as needed

Meet weekly with the Head of Lower School to discuss issues concerning students and ways to support students, teachers, and parents
