Unity in Mission

The 24 Schools of the Sacred Heart in the United States and Canada find unity in a shared mission articulated in the Goals and Criteria. Their experience as a Network of Schools is supported through the structures of membership. To ensure the vitality of mission, the structure supporting Sacred Heart education includes the Conference of Sacred Heart Education and the Network of Sacred Heart schools.

Conference of Sacred Heart Education

The primary purpose of the Conference is to animate fidelity to mission as the most effective means of invigorating Sacred Heart education for the future. The Conference serves as a think tank on mission for the leaders of the United States Canada Province of the Society of the Sacred Heart and the 24 Schools of the Sacred Heart.

It focuses on three dimensions of mission effectiveness: governance to ensure vitality and relevance of mission; education to mission of boards, chairs, heads and leadership teams; and accountability on the part of school communities to fulfill mission as articulated in the Goals and Criteria. The Provincial of the USC Province appoints the Head of Conference as leader.

Network of Sacred Heart Schools

The Network operates as an association of 24 Catholic independent schools acting in cooperation with the USC Province of the Society of the Sacred Heart to advance a shared mission. The schools are represented by the heads and board chairs and the province is represented by the provincial team. The members elect a Network Board who serves as an executive committee. The Board appoints the Director of Program Planning who is responsible to ensure services and programs for students, faculty and staff. Programs promote creative education and leadership framed by the Goals and Criteria for Sacred Heart schools in the United States and Canada.

The structure and the subsequent committees enhance the experience of unity by drawing upon the members of the 24 school communities and the province to serve as committee members and resources. The experience of networking extends beyond Canada and the United States as the Schools of the Sacred Heart are affiliated with colleagues engaged with the Society in 41 countries around the globe.
This international character of Sacred Heart education helps to foster an important global awareness in our students as we strive to build a more just and compassionate world.
Schools of the Sacred Heart share in the educational mission of the Society of the Sacred Heart as articulated in the Goals and Criteria.
