Juvenile Justice

Sacred Heart Schools, Sheridan Road
Chicago, Illinois

To gain a perspective of the experience of a teenager in our nation’s criminal justice system, students looked at different support structures that work to help students who are at risk for a variety of reasons.
They met with advocates, judges, prosecutors, public defenders, social workers, educators and teenagers who have been in the justice system. Through case-studies, Network students also learned how the state of Illinois makes decisions about the prosecution of juvenile offenders – and left with a hands on awareness of the complexities pursuing justice.
