Welcome Trustees

Leadership is both an art and a science informed by mission. Specifically, in our case as trustees of Schools of the Sacred Heart, this mission is infused by the values articulated in the Goals and Criteria.  They capture the principles of Catholic education permeated by Saint Madeleine Sophie’s charism and the spirit of the Society of the Sacred Heart. As the stewards of mission, Sacred Heart boards of trustees work in partnership with school leadership to ensure the continuity of the Sacred Heart educational mission, the best educational climate for today’s students and the sustainability of the schools for future generations.  
Boards of trustees set the context for school leadership through wise policies that establish directions, inform strategic priorities and guide decision-making while also providing some degree of flexibility. School leadership is charged with the implementation of board policy and priorities, designing the procedures and structures to achieve the mission, goals and long-term success of the school. Other primary responsibilities of the board are to work with the head of school to ensure the long-term strategic and fiscal viability of the school. 
Independent but never isolated, School of the Sacred Heart remain deeply united in mission. To that end, we invite trustees of the Sacred Heart to login if interested in more resources regarding trusteeship within the Sacred Heart as well as valuable forums for boards and board committees.

    #3DNYC - Diversity, Differences, and Dialogue - Using dialogue training, direct service, and reflection to help students dive deeper into the 8 social identifiers of diversity. The purpose of this project is to educate students on identity, differences, and the importance of dialogue. Specifically, the program aims to: educate students on the 8 social identifiers of diversity (age, race, ethnicity, ability, gender, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status), as well as teach them that diversity and identity are relevant to all introduce the foundations of dialogue and encourage students to use these skills through reflection and direct service provide students with a foundation to design a platform for all network students to dialogue about differences.

Schools of the Sacred Heart share in the educational mission of the Society of the Sacred Heart as articulated in the Goals and Criteria. The structure supporting Sacred Heart education in Canada and the United States includes the Conference of Sacred Heart Education and the Network of Sacred Heart Schools.  Together they provide services and programs to ensure vitality of mission for the member schools sponsored by the Society of the Sacred Heart.
