As a Sacred Heart Educator, the Middle School ELA Teacher’s primary goal is to create effective writers and to instill a love of literature and reading. This position teaches two sections of 7th Grade ELA and two sections of 8th Grade ELA.

Job Title: 7th and 8th Grade ELA Teacher

Full or Part Time: Full Time


7th-8th grade classroom:
  • Teach 7th and 8th grade  English/Language Arts 
  • Organize and provide developmentally appropriate boy-centered instruction
  • Plan and implement curriculum and differentiated instruction
  • Provide activities that encourage independent reading and thoughtful writing. 
  • Maintain an open and cooperative relationship with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Participate in Middle School faculty and department meetings and perform various faculty supervisory duties.
  • Maintain an online gradebook
  • Submit quality lesson plans in a timely manner
  • Maintain a classroom website, online calendar, and resources. 


  • At least 3 years of classroom experience teaching Middle School ELA
  • Independent School experience is preferable 
  • Experience in gender-specific education is preferable 
  • An understanding of boy-centered learning
