Lower/Middle School Spanish Teacher | Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart | NJ

Full time Spanish Lower School (K-4)teacher with the flexibility to teach a grade-level section of middle school.
Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart in Princeton, New Jersey is an all-boys independent Sacred Heart school for grades K-8. We are currently seeking a full-time Lower School (K-Grade 4) Spanish teacher for the 2019–20 school year. This teaching position requires the flexibility to also teach a grade-level section of middle school.

Our Spanish program presents an integrated skills approach to Spanish. Listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills are developed. The primary objective of the program is to offer students an opportunity to acquire communication skills while developing an awareness and appreciation of Hispanic culture. Our student-centered, proficiency-oriented program seeks to inspire our learners through continuous comprehensible input and engaging teaching which incorporates differentiated, individualized and personalized instruction. The program covers vocabulary and grammar in the context of culture. 

Interested candidates should have three or more years teaching experience in a Kindergarten through Grade 8 Spanish program/learning environment; bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.

  • A joyful and inspirational approach to teaching and learning, along with an articulated desire to work with boys in Kindergarten through Grade 8
  • Collaboration with homeroom teachers to integrate language instruction with other curricular areas
  • Ability to carry out Spanish curriculum development
  • Create and implement Spanish language program in collaboration with the Middle School Spanish teacher
  • Integration of technology into classroom lessons
  • Provide opportunities for students to use their Spanish language skills in real-world settings that are diverse and global
  • Create a warm and inclusive classroom community that keeps the needs of diverse learners in mind
  • Opportunities for engagement in and leadership of the school’s growing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programming
  • Participation in professional development
  • Coaching experience and/or the ability to lead co-curricular activities is preferred
