Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. With over 700 students, and rooted in the Goals of Sacred Heart education, Stone Ridge inspires young women to lead and serve, through lives of purpose that integrate faith, intellect, community, social action, and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.

The Director of Health Services promotes health and safety in the school environment and provides health services to students in all divisions. S/he develops and administers a coordinated school health program, promoting and protecting the optimal health status of school-aged children. S/he manages school health records in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations, maintaining confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues. As a member of the Student Support Team, s/he collaborates to provide intervention for students. S/he also teaches Family Life-Human Growth and Development curriculum in Grades 4-8 and Drug Abuse-Prevention curriculum in Grades 5-8 in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. S/he reports to the Head of School.
The Director of Health Services coordinates and provides CPR training to faculty and staff, in addition to providing direct professional nursing services, first aid, illness, and emergency care to students. This includes nursing assessment, identifying health problems, making referrals for diagnosis and treatment, recommending educational modifications, providing follow-up and evaluation, and maintaining appropriate documentation. The Director of Health Services develops a medication protocol to safely store, administer, document, and monitor the effectiveness of medication given at 
school. S/he supervises and/or provides screening and follow up for deficits in vision, growth, and development. As needed, s/he partners with the Athletic Trainer regarding sports eligibility for students as well as follow up with related injuries.
The Director of Health Services manages and makes recommendations to the Director of Finance and Operations for the annual health services annual budget. S/he oversees the AED program and all six AED units on campus to include compliance with Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services, and s/he meets with County and State Department of Health officials with regard to Immunization compliance. S/he attends all faculty and employee meetings, fulfills other duties as assigned, and maintains good communication with all internal and external constituents as related to his/her work.
The candidate must hold a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Maryland as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN). S/he must maintain current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid from a recognized provider (e.g. American Heart Association) and must have a minimum of two years supervised nursing experience in community or children’s health prior to entry into school nursing practice. S/he must be certified by the American Nurses' Association (ANA) or the National Nurses' Association. Ideally, s/he has experience working with children in schools. S/he demonstrates exceptional organizational skills; the ability to multitask, working with an range of internal and external constituents; a collaborative, caring spirit; and excellent communication skills.
