Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. The Interim Athletic Trainer provides athletic training services for all home athletic contests and practices, while also making him/herself available during the school day for the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries to students. The Interim Athletic Trainer makes decisions regarding the need for professional attention, treatment, and authorization of athletes to return to activity. Additionally, the Interim Athletic Trainer supports the Director of Athletics in the daily operation of the Middle and Upper School Athletic Programs in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. 
The Interim Athletic Trainer conducts initial assessments of athletic injuries or illnesses in order to provide emergency or continued care and to determine the need for physician referral. S/he serves as a liaison among family physicians/specialists, athletes, and parents. On a consistent basis, the Interim Athletic Trainer evaluates athletes’ readiness to play and provides participation clearance when necessary. Maintaining an accurate database of student physicals for sports participation and communicating expiration dates; records of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation; and an annual summary of this information, the Interim Athletic Trainer collaborates with the Director of Athletics and Director of Health Services. The Interim Athletic Trainer provides athletic training services for all ice hockey games at “home” rinks off campus, and s/he facilitates athletic training coverage by a certified athletic trainer for all home games s/he will miss due to approved absence. S/he assists with the coordination of all responsibilities related to student organizations supporting athletics. S/he collaborates with colleagues in the Physical Education Department to plan, organize, and execute activities for special events on campus (e.g. Gator Game Days, Athletics Council meetings, Admissions events, etc.).

A candidate must be a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer, and s/he must be able to gain licensure to work as an Athletic Trainer in the state of Maryland through the Maryland Board of Physicians. A candidate must have knowledge of certification and licensure requirements of applicable federal and state laws pertaining to the profession. S/he demonstrates exceptional organizational skills; the ability to multitask, working with a range of internal and external constituents; a collaborative, caring spirit; and excellent communication skills. Ideally, s/he has experience working in schools, an advanced degree in Athletic Training or related field, and experience with strength and conditioning.

The typical hours for this position are Monday-Friday 9:30am-6:30pm during the academic year, with occasional evening hours until 8pm for some home games. Saturday athletic training coverage is required for home games only, approximately 4-5 times per year.

Compensation includes competitive benefits and salary commensurate with experience. This position will be filled on an interim basis for the 2019-20 academic year, with potential for renewal.
