The Academy of the Sacred Heart invites applications for a Middle School Math/Algebra (7-8th) Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. This position is
a full-time contract, with full-time benefits. Ideal candidates should have an excellent background and experience in teaching mathematics at the middle and/or high school level. Employees of the Academy are required to be collaborative members of a highly professional learning community.

Algebra: The teacher will encourage the development of problem solving, logical reasoning, and flexible thinking skills through:
  • Writing, solving, and graphing linear and quadratic equations, including systems of two linear equations and inequalities in two unknowns.
  • Studying monomial and polynomial expressions, inequalities, exponents, functions, and rational expressions.
  • Solving quadratic equations by factoring, completing the square, graphing, or by application of the quadratic formula.

  • The class emphasizes the concepts necessary to be successful in Algebra. Students will explore algebraic expressions and integers; solve equations, inequalities, and expressions involving decimals, fractions, and exponents; analyze, write and solve ratios, proportions, and percents; write, solve, and graph linear functions, and perform data analysis.
  • Possess the ability to inspire students to be in relationship with God and grow in their life of prayer
  • Motivate students to live lives consistent with their values and beliefs
  • Demonstrate competency in, or desire to grow in, the charism of the Society of the Sacred Heart
