The Position
SHS seeks a talented and highly qualified fulltime Mathematics instructor to teach math (Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus) to high school students for the 2020-2021 academic year beginning in August 2020. The successful candidate must prove excellent skills as a teacher, a demonstrated passion for mathematics and fostering a love of learning in adolescents. A healthy sense of humor is always a plus.

Key responsibilities for this important role include but are not limited to:
  • Evaluates student work and provides meaningful feedback to guide learning / growth.
  • Plans, evaluates, and revises curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction.
  • Uses effective class management techniques to ensure effective learning.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to develop and renew curriculum and other school programs.
  • Contributes actively to build a vibrant faculty/staff learning culture.

The ideal candidate will have a BA degree or post graduate work in Mathematics and/or education and we prefer to see candidates with an MA degree and/or additional coursework or work experience in a relevant field. A minimum of three years of relevant teaching experience is required and a clear commitment to the educational philosophy of Sacred Heart Schools as articulated in the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education is essential.
