Stone Ridge is seeking a Full Time Upper School Fine Arts Teacher to begin on August 19, 2021.
The Upper School Visual Arts Teacher is responsible for teaching fine arts in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. Possessing strong knowledge of studio drawing and painting, printmaking, and mixed media, s/he teaches Foundations of Studio Art and prepares student artwork for school exhibitions. Working closely with colleagues in the Visual Arts Department and throughout the Upper School, s/he creates and updates plans for content, quality, and continuity of curriculum. S/he actively collaborates with Learning Strategists, Librarians, Educational Technologists, and the counseling staff to develop strategies to support all students. S/he attends all faculty and employee meetings and maintains good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents’ inquiries.
The ideal candidate has experience in independent and/or Catholic school. S/he has taught high school fine arts and experience integrating modern media into traditional studio art practices. The ideal candidate will teach 2D art (drawing and paining) and introduce students to concepts of 3D art. S/he develops, in students, both an appreciation of fine arts and the ability to develop portfolios as they pursue further studies. Compensation includes salary commensurate with experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art or Art education
Master’s degree preferred
Familiarity with and/or experience teaching the model of Understanding by Design
