Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Digital Content & Social Media Coordinator is responsible for sharing the Forest Ridge School story through a variety of digital platforms and plays a vital role in creating and implementing the School’s visual branding and messaging. The ideal candidate will be extremely nimble with technology and able to quickly master new software, apps and equipment. The Digital Content & Social Media Coordinator works with departments across the School, including Development, Enrollment Management and Academics on projects such as social media content and graphics development, web page creation and maintenance, brochure and collateral design, photography and video production. Strong graphic design skills and an eye for design are essential for this role.

Specific Responsibilities:

Graphic Design:
  • Works with Director of Marketing and Communications to craft compelling visual storytelling content for use across social media, brochures, ads, website and other mediums as needed
  • Create materials for multiple school departments, including Enrollment Management, Development, Academics and the Head’s office, designing programs, flyers, brochures, signs and more

Social Media and Digital Communications:
  • Develop an annual social media plan along with the Director of Marketing and Communications that aligns with and supports the School’s overall marketing and communication strategy and strategic goals
  • Manage, execute and report on measurable social media strategy and goals that continues to build strong engagement and brand advocacy through primary social media channels
  • Write content and design social media posts and graphics across the school’s social media channels
  • Monitor social media channels and engage with audience using sound judgement in a timely manner
  • Report on analytics for social media and use data to drive decisions for future digital communications and outreach
  • Steward the School’s editorial and brand standards by ensuring consistency and visual integrity on all communications
  • Write content for, design and send email communications (including weekly school newsletter) to various school constituents
  • Stay up to date with digital marketing trends, strategies and new technologies

Website Maintenance:
  • Serve as front-end website administrator and designer
  • Update pages with new content, information, graphics, photos, etc.
  • Create new pages as necessary

Photography & Videography
  • Shoot photos and video of a variety of constituents, including students, faculty and staff, etc. for use across social media, website and marketing materials
  • Shoot and edit video segments for use on social media and the website

  • Act as primary organizer of the school’s marketing photo and video storage folders
  • Maintain email lists used for communications to parents, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and prospective students
Writing/Copy Editing
  • Revise and edit communications from multiple departments to ensure alignment with the School’s brand guidelines with oversight from the Director of Marketing and Communications
  • Ability to write compelling captions for social media
  • Ability to write content for emails to various groups across the school (parents, students, alumni, donors, prospective families) as needed
  • Ability to proofread and copy edit content for faculty and staff including, but not limited to, Head of School, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Director of Institutional Advancement and others across School community

  • Advanced degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in marketing, graphic design, communications or a related field
  • Preferred 2+ years relevant marketing, social media and graphic design experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign Skills
  • Experience using email marketing software (Constant Contact, HubSpot, etc.)
  • Knowledge of content management systems and website maintenance (Wordpress, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of html
  • Strong creative eye for graphic design, photography and video production
  • Eagerness to stay ahead of trends in social media, graphic design and marketing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • An eagerness to learn new approaches and a positive attitude
  • Interpersonal skills, including the desire to work in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent diplomacy skills with respect to enforcing quality standards with school constituencies
  • Excellent time-management skills
