Middle School Social Studies Teacher
Full-Time
Beginning August 25, 2022


Position: Middle School Social Studies Teacher
Reports to: Middle School Division Head
FLSA: Exempt, full-time

The Middle School Social Studies teacher will join a highly collaborative, innovative, and experienced faculty. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interest in middle school education, and the ability to relate and communicate effectively and appropriately with middle school female students.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach 5th Grade Foundations of Civilization and 6th Grade Progress? Or Progress!: Evaluating Change. Both courses develop students understanding of history from multiple perspectives and use primary sources to enhance the students analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Provide academic support for students outside of class time by answering homework questions, and consulting with them, as needed.
  • Attend department and faculty meetings.
  • Support the students and division by covering study halls, lunch duties and other assignments as needed.

Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate history major
  • Master’s degree in history, social science, or teaching preferred
  • Previous teaching experience preferred
  • Candidate should be open to STEM collaboration and be comfortable with using technology and various scientific tools to enhance students’ learning
  • Proficiency with current educational technology, especially blended learning platforms and strategies.
  • Knowledge of, appreciation for, and demonstrated commitment to anti-racist, anti-bias education, multicultural teaching, and culturally responsive pedagogy
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communications skills
  • Positive team player with a desire to contribute and share your gifts and talents with the students and administration of the school
