Full Position Description: Stone Ridge is seeking a Full-time Upper School English Teacher to begin in August 2022.
The Upper School English Teacher is responsible for teaching in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education.
Job duties include:
Teaching sections of English courses such as Introduction to Literature, Global Perspectives in British Literature, and Literature of the Americas with the potential to teach a senior elective.
Creating and updating plans for content, quality, and continuity of curriculum while collaborating with members of the English Department to ensure consistency across sections.
Critically examining text selections and teaching materials in order to build diverse, equitable, inclusive, and just English classes.
Actively collaborating with Learning Strategists, Educational Technologists, and the Counseling Staff to develop strategies to support all students.
Maintaining good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents’ inquiries.
Attending all faculty and employee meetings.
Requirements and Qualifications:
A track record of successful teaching, a capacity for working with a range of learning abilities, and experience integrating appropriate educational technologies into the classroom.
Familiarity with current emphases on writing instruction, research, and Understanding by Design, the School’s chosen pedagogical approach to teaching and learning.
A demonstrated desire to innovate and collaborate, strong writing and communication skills, a capacity for organization and follow-through, creativity, and flexibility.
Compensation includes salary commensurate with experience.
