Full Position Description: Stone Ridge is seeking an Upper School Dean of Students to begin July 1, 2022.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten. With over 700 students and rooted in the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education, Stone Ridge inspires young women to lead and serve, through lives of purpose that integrate faith, intellect, community, social action, and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.
The Upper School Dean of Students is responsible, in collaboration with the Head of Upper School, for overseeing all facets of Student Life in the Upper School. The Upper School Dean of students works closely with the Head of Upper School and the Assistant Head of Upper School, as well as faculty and staff, to ensure that the program and operations reflect the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education as best practices in technology and pedagogy. The Upper School Dean of Students demonstrates a commitment to the Goals and Criteria through a professional, strategic and caring demeanor. Currently the Dean of Students position is a 12-month position.
The Upper School Dean of Students will:
teach one section of a course, depending on the chosen candidate’s area of expertise.
oversee and guide all aspects of student life, developing student leadership, overseeing student government and student activities, and coordinating the faculty advisory program.
coordinate programming with school program directors and work in close collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Students, Upper School Campus Minister, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Director of Social Action.
coordinate all aspects of new student orientation and acculturation.
serve on the Upper School Leadership Team.
oversee the development of the Division’s calendar alongside the Head of Upper School and Asst. Head of Upper School.
collaborate with faculty to implement vibrant, inclusive and student-centered co-curricular programming that supports the School’s mission and develops student leadership skills.
plan opening of school orientations, dances, holiday celebrations, school traditions (including graduation), assemblies and community time events.
implement a student-centered philosophy of discipline that administers discipline in a fair, respectful manner that is consistent with the student handbook and fosters inclusivity.
attend all faculty and employee meetings, and fulfill other faculty duties including Social Action.
communicate with students and parents.
Experience working with teenagers, preferably in independent and/or Catholic schools
Excellent communication skills
Strong organizational skills
has some proficiency with Zoom and Google Suite, or a desire/willingness to learn
In addition to a strong commitment to students and the ability to motivate in an engaging manner, the Upper School Dean of Students demonstrates excellent communication and organizational skills, and is a strong collaborator with a balanced and team-oriented mindset.
Compensation includes salary commensurate with experience.
